Jack Swanson - Local Interest
We have Jack Swanson to thank for the classic
Picture Bainbridge: A Pictorial History of Bainbridge Island (2002). With backing from the
Bainbridge Island Historical Society, research assistance by
Gary Loverich, and support from many islanders who supplied stories and photographs, the book is a compendium of different parts of the island through time. For his efforts, Swanson won the Washington State Historical Society's coveted David Douglas Award for best regional history publication of the year. The book is available for purchase at the
Eagle Harbor Bookstore.
