Planned Giving

Library Legacy Society

Membership in the Library Legacy Society is open to all individuals who have provided for a legacy gift to the Bainbridge Public Library. Your attorney and financial advisor may help you provide a gift to the Library by way of your will as part of your estate plan or set up a planned gift to benefit the Library more immediately. Your gift to the Library can be a useful financial planning tool. The Library offers a range of options that may help you:

  • realize immediate tax savings
  • generate a life income for yourself and/or your loved ones
  • transfer assets to loved ones with a reduced tax liability
  • reduce or eliminate income, capital gains, or estate taxes
  • and make a more significant gift than you imagined possible.

Some examples of legacy gifts are:

  • Bequests by will
  • Trusts - Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Trusts - Charitable Lead Trust
  • Life Insurance
  • Gift of a Home or Farm with a Retained Life Estate
  • Securities
  • Retirement plan assets (IRA's, 401k, etc.)
  • Cash
  • Tangible personal property

Gifts may be made as unrestricted or restricted. Should you choose to make a restricted gift, please consult the Library's Board of Directors to ensure that it will be possible for your wishes to be carried out within the future plans for the Library.

To make a bequest in your will or trust, just a few sentences are all that is needed. The official bequest language for Bainbridge Public Library is: "I give, devise and bequeath _________ to Bainbridge Public Library, a Washington state non-profit corporation located in Bainbridge Island, Washington 98110."

If you would like a recommendation of an attorney with whom you may consult about your options, please contact us via email at or by phone at 206-842-4162. You can also use the Contact Us Form on this website.
