Chuck Flood - Historic highways, roadside Americana, ghost towns
Chuck Flood has been on Bainbridge Island since 1979.  He has four books in print and the first three volumes were each a collection of over 200 vintage postcards and photos, Washington's Highway 99 (2013), Washington's Sunset Highway (2014), and Oregon's Highway 99 (2016).  Each presents "a virtual road trip along Pacific Northwest highways in pre-freeway days. Though many early roadside businesses have vanished, large stretches remain of the original highways; some towns along the routes are little changed, and curious motorists will find abundant reminders of when travel was an adventure." His most recent book, Lost Restaurants of Seattle (2017), remembers "beloved lunch counters, oyster houses, roadside diners and elegant dining rooms" which have come and gone.  You can read more about Chuck Flood's books at http://www.pnwhighwayhistory.com/
