Diana Atkinson - Adult Fiction
Canadian-born Diana Atkinson is the author of Highways and Dancehalls (1996).  Described as gritty and hard-edged, the novel tells the story of Harvard-educated Sarah - better known as Tabitha, the Dante-quoting stripper who plies her trade in the mining towns and middle-class suburbs of British Columbia.  The book was short-listed for three big Canadian literary awards, the Governor General's Award for fiction, the Chapters/Books in Canada First Novel Award, and the Commonwealth Prize.
