Sharlene Martin operates a literary management agency and represents a variety of non-fiction authors, including several New York Times best-selling authors. Based on her professional experience Martin, together with Anthony Flacco, has recently written Publish Your Nonfiction Book: Strategies for Learning the Industry, Selling Your Book, and Building a Successful Career (Writer's Digest Books, 2009). The book is filled with hands-on advice on becoming a published author - how to determine whether you have the necessary skills, how to write query letters that will not be rejected, how to target an audience, how to promote yourself effectively, and what publishers are looking for in today's climate.
